Students at Georgia Tech are helping determine DeKalb County officers’ new beats.

The university is working with DeKalb Police to realign police beats and maximize response times, police said Thursday.

This is part of a senior project for Tech and is free to the county, police said. County officials estimate they are saving about $50,000 by using students instead of consultants.
