Bill Woolf has an issue with a sidewalk.

“The sidewalk in front of Agnes Scott College at 141 E. College Ave. has a major drainage problem that has been allowed to worsen for over 10 years, with occasional fill-ins that last until the next heavy rain.

“Imagine trying to navigate this area if you are visually impaired and using a cane. My understanding is that, because this section of road is a federal highway (U.S. 278), any maintenance in the right-of-way must be done by the DOT. Is there any way to move the DOT to address an issue it has ignored for years?” Woolf wrote.

We sent his concerns to the DOT and will keep you updated.

We received yet another complaint this week about a sidewalk.

“A fiber-optics company (maybe AT&T) installed cable in front of my property at 329 10th St. NW. The sidewalk is damaged along with my stone wall. This is a heavily traveled sidewalk, across from Ga Tech and is unsafe,” Ron Brooks wrote.

We sent his item to Atlanta officials to see if they could resolve the problem.

Late last year, we told you about a dangerous pedestrian crossing.

“The pedestrian crossing on westbound Dunwoody Club Dr. at Mt. Vernon is hazardous for people crossing the street. The crossing sign is about 50 feet beyond the crossing and is on the backend of the street curve.

“For much of the year, the crossing sign is hidden behind tree branches. Most cars don’t even slow down when going through this part of the intersection. The pedestrian crossing sign needs to be moved to a place before the westbound street curve and the pedestrian crossing,” a reader wrote.

We learned this week it had been fixed.

Who got it fixed: Sandy Springs Communications Director Sharon Kraun, skraun@SandySpringsga.gov.
