The body of a swimmer who disappeared early Sunday was recovered Monday, officials said.

Gerardo Soto Jr., 22, of Chicago, was found before noon Monday near the Red Top Mountain State Park swimming area of Lake Allatoona, Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon said.

DNR game wardens searched from 2 p.m. Sunday until dark and resumed the search at 7:30 a.m. Monday, McKinnon said.

No additional information was immediately available.
