Swiftwater rescue training at Six Flags

Multi-Agency Swiftwater Rescue Teams and Six Flags Over Georgia are teaming up for Swiftwater Rescue Team Training May 10-12.

From 1 to 3 p.m. on those days, first responders from Gwinnett, Cobb, John’s Creek, Marietta and Smyrna will gather at the Thunder River ride at the theme park in Austell, which mimics the turbulent waters that rescuers respond to each year.

Firefighters will perfect their skills in swimming across currents, dealing with obstacles in the water and learning self rescue and survival methods.
