Cobb County SWAT officers used a robot to look inside a home Thursday night during the search for an armed robbery suspect.

An officer on patrol near Marietta spotted a white SUV matching the description of one driven by a suspect, Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police told the AJC.

As the officer waited for additional officers to arrive, the SUV pulled into the driveway of a Lynn Drive home and three people got out and went inside, Pierce said. Two of the three later came outside and talked to officers, but the wanted suspect did not.

"Those two are not under arrest," Pierce said. "Nobody is in custody."

When the suspect refused to come out of the home, SWAT team officers were called to the scene, off Austell Road. Officers used a robot to search the home, but had not located the suspect around 11 p.m., Pierce said.

"It may be that he got out of a back door," Pierce said.
