The Suwanee City Council voted recently to renew an intergovernmental agreement with Gwinnett County to provide for an inmate work crew to perform various duties. The crews are contracted to perform labor services on public property and at public facilities and buildings.
Eight to 10 inmates will be available on a daily basis not to exceed 7 working hours a day. The crews will consist of inmates from Gwinnett County Department of Corrections, an armed correctional officer, a fully equipped transport vehicle, and a landscape trailer equipped for commercial mowing and/or litter pickup.
Suwanee will pay Gwinnett $310 per actual worked day as reimbursement for all salaries, costs and expenses incurred by the county to provide the crew, correctional officer, equipment and materials.
