Suwanee is accepting applications through Dec. 4 for the 2016 Suwanee Youth Leaders program, an eight-month leadership program for high school sophomores and juniors.
Now in its third year, SYL is open to students who attend public, private, and home-based schools and live in the North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, and Collins Hill clusters. The program centers on civic involvement, leadership skills, and volunteer opportunities.
“With hard work, our SYL committee was able to successfully run a Food Truck Friday… seeing families and friends enjoy an event that we worked so hard on was probably one of the best moments of the SYL program,” says Dami Lee, a senior at North Gwinnett.
The program will kick off with a required two-day retreat Feb. 27 and 28. Students will then meet one Saturday each month March through Sept. and also will be expected to volunteer at several community events.
Applications available through local high schools and at www.suwanee.com. Information: Adam Edge at aedge@suwanee.com or Denise Brinson at denise@suwanee.com.
