The suspicious package that caused police to evacuate a Gwinnett County bus was a harmless musical instrument tuner, police said Tuesday.

Satellite Boulevard was shut down Monday afternoon between Hopkins Mill and West Liddell roads near Duluth, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter told the AJC.

Apartments in the area were also evacuated, and the police bomb squad was on the scene to investigate what was reported as "some type of battery with some wires hanging out," Ritter said.

A bomb squad robot removed the device from the bus, and "further inspection revealed that the device was an electronic tuner for a musical instrument," Ritter said Tuesday. "It is now believed that this device was most likely left behind accidentally by its owner and not intentionally left behind as a terrorist threat or act as previously thought."
