14 suspected DeKalb gang members indicted

Fourteen suspected gang members were indicted in DeKalb County on Tuesday as part of the county’s efforts to crack down on gang activity.

The suspects, believed to be members and associates of DAFAM, a metro Atlanta-area “hybrid” criminal street gang, were indicted on 95 counts for multiple violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

The offenses include aggravated assault with weapons, armed robberies, possession of illegal drugs and carrying a weapon within a school zone, said Orzy Theus of the DeKalb County district attorney’s office in a statement.

The suspects are: Dorean Chester, Calvin Craft, Prince Davis, Deandre Drummond, Cedric Foster, Joseph Groom, Rand Jeter, Travarious Jones, Kenneth Kitchen, Kenneth Paige, Jarvis Pointer, Deonta L. Robinson, Demario Scott and Antoine Watts.

Hybrid gangs are identified as a subset of nontraditional gangs that adopt the same colors, signs and symbols of traditional gangs. The members mix and match traditions and identifiers of established gangs and have very loose affiliations with traditional gangs.
