Suspect arrested in fatal NW Atlanta shooting

July 3, 2013

The fugitive unit arrested a man Tuesday who was wanted for a fatal shooting in northwest Atlanta last week, police said.

Drexton Thomas, 45, is charged with murder in the death of 50-year-old Jeffery Douglas. He was taken to the Fulton County jail. Bond was denied Wednesday morning, jail spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said.

Police responded to the scene in the 600 block of Jett Street on Friday afternoon and found the victim shot dead in an apartment, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

Witnesses told authorities that a man called “Deck” had been arguing with the victim’s son. The armed man robbed the son and shot Douglas before taking his money and fleeing, police said.
