A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a killing last weekend and a carjacking in May at hotels in DeKalb, authorities said.

Jonathan Jones was taken into custody Thursday by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad. Jones was arrested at the Super 8 Motel on Six Flags Drive in Austell. A handgun was found under his hotel bed, according to the sheriff's office.

An arrest warrant for murder states that Jones shot and killed Cameron Monroe on Saturday at the Memorial Inn, 6255 Memorial Drive in DeKalb, a sheriff's office news release said. A motive for the slaying was not stated.

A separate warrant for armed robbery says that on May 30, Jones took a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and a wallet at the Discover Inn at 2434 Candler Road in DeKalb.

Jones also was wanted for outstanding probation violation warrants involving two counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and drug possession charges, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into DeKalb County Jail.
