If you thought Saturday was nice, just wait.

Metro Atlanta will remain dry through the weekend as Sunday warms up to a high of 63 degrees, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

That’s good news for the thousands of runners, walkers and joggers expected to converge on the city for the 2020 Publix Atlanta Marathon.

The event kicks off at 7 a.m. from Centennial Olympic Park.

From there, the course takes runners through Sweet Auburn, Little Five Points, Virginia Highlands, Piedmont Park, the Atlanta University Center, Summerhill, Grant Park and back downtown.

For those who aren’t quite ready for the 26.2-mile hike, the event also includes a half marathon and a 5K.

The race comes on the heels of Saturday’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials Marathon, and for the second day in a row, drivers should expect major road closures.

About 160,000 people are expected in town this weekend, so participants and spectators are encouraged to use MARTA or a rideshare service to get to the event.

Enjoy the sunshine while you can, but don’t get your hopes up. The rain returns on Monday and is expected to linger through much of the week, Deon said.

There’s a 70% chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday and a 60% chance on Wednesday, according to the latest forecast.
