A northeast Atlanta sandwich shop employee is recovering after being shot during a Tuesday night robbery attempt.

Two masked robbers entered the Subway in the 1800 block of Piedmont Avenue around 8:30 a.m., pointed a gun at one of the two employees and demanded money. Both workers tried to run out the back of the restaurant.

One of the employees was shot in the buttocks as he fled, Channel 2 Action News reported. He was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspects ran from the store empty handed after the shooting.
