The Stockbridge City Council announced a counterproposal Jan. 8 to the county’s latest offer for police services.
The Board of Commissioners voted in December to recommend a new deal under which Stockbridge would pay $743,000 per year for two round-the-clock officers in the city in addition to its normal staffing and equipment for the unincorporated county. Noting that this would be a 48 percent increase, the city has proposed utilizing only the regular police presence offered by the county and supplementing that with its own resources including “contracted patrol services,” according to a statement.
The proposal has been presented to the county for consideration.
