The Stockbridge City Council voted unanimously at its Oct. 14 regular meeting to award a contract to H.J. Russell & Company regarding construction of the city’s planned amphitheater.

It is expected to be built on the northeast end of the City Hall complex at the corner of East Atlanta Road and North Henry Blvd. Information released by city officials indicate that it is expected to seat more than 3,000 people and the new construction will include five ancillary buildings totaling nearly 10,000 square feet.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for Oct. 28. It would be the first major amphitheater in Henry County, according to city officials.
