The Stockbridge City Council voted unanimously at its Feb. 10 regular meeting to approve a resolution in support of a voter referendum on casino gambling, similar to what the Henry County Board of Commissioners and other city councils in the country have already done. According to the wording of the resolution, the council is not taking a position either way on the issue, but is voicing support for letting the voters decide at the polls.

In another move that has also been made by the county’s local governments, the council direct the city clerk to forward to Henry County’s legislative delegations copies of a resolution previously passed in opposition to House Bill 302, which would take away from local governments the authority to determine their own residential development standards.
