The Stockbridge City Council voted at its April 30 workshop meeting to approve a $100,000 renewable annual contract with Mack’s Hauling Inc. for citywide demolition services.
This purchase is being made through a City of Atlanta contract. The primary purpose of the agreement is “to provide the city with demolition services for the police precinct and to remove slab, insert list to level the lot, spread seed and apply straws,” according to city officials. Just demolishing the police precinct by itself would cost $45,840 according to one city estimate.
Officials from the Public Works Department informed the council that they intend to engage the vendor as soon as the contract is approved, making sure that asbestos testing has been completed and getting started on the demolition of the police precinct.
