The top-end Perimeter has reopened following a multi-car crash that shut down most eastbound lanes of I-285 for about an hour Thursday morning, causing a huge traffic jam that stretched for miles.

The wreck happened around 5:45 a.m. when a vehicle that had stalled out in the center lane of I-285 near Ga. 400 was hit by other vehicles.

The state Department of Transportation reported that four people were injured and transported to local hospitals.

All but one lane remained closed until 6:45 a.m., causing a jam that stretched back to beyond the Chattahoochee River.

The AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB Traffic Center reported it was taking motorists 40 minutes to make the drive from I-75 to Ga. 400.
