The Cobb County Board of Education decided 7-0 on Dec. 13 to award a nearly $1 million contract to an architect for the Sprayberry High School project and to announce its intention to consider whether to buy land in Mableton during its 7 p.m. Jan. 17 regular meeting.

CDH Partners of Marietta was awarded the architectural contract for $925,162.

Temporarily, this fee will come out of the General Fund with reimbursement from SPLOST V.

Also, this fee constitutes five percent of the actual cost of the project which is estimated to be $18.5 million.

In the other matter, Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources and Operations John Adams of the Cobb County School District announced the school board’s intent at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 to consider whether to buy 1.1 acres at 6934 Factory Shoals Road in Mableton for $140,000 with extra costs for inspection fees and closing costs.
