South Cobb High to get new theater by 2018

A new theater should be open by November 2018 at South Cobb High School, 1920 Clay Road, Austell.

The Cobb County Board of Education voted 6-0-1 Thursday to award the construction contract to Nix-Fowler Constructors, Inc. of Mableton for $9,415,000.

Absent was board member Susan Thayer.

Funding will come from Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) IV to replace this theater.
