A South Cobb logo design was approved Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

The goal is to rebrand the South Cobb community, showcasing “its strengths and attributes while also dispelling many of the false perceptions of the area,” Dana Johnson, director of the Cobb County Community Development Agency, told the commissioners.

Community involvement included a Web-based survey that received more than 300 responses which influenced the logo design, he added.

“The design focuses on South Cobb’s diversity through the use of a variety of bright colors and shapes brought together in a manner that exemplifies the composition of the community, both culturally and artistically,” Johnson said.

The goal of the marketing and branding strategy of the logo is “to become synonymous with South Cobb and further enhance the brand identity of the area’s more notable attractions, including Six Flags Over Georgia theme park, Mable House-Barnes Amphitheatre and Arts Center, Silver Comet Trail, Riverside EpiCenter and various public facilities.”

In October 2014, SLANT Media was hired by the Cobb commissioners to develop the South Cobb Marketing and Branding Strategy in partnership with the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority.

This logo is its first product for the campaign, Johnson said.
