Two former U.S. soccer stars will be in Atlanta to promote diversity in the sport on Tuesday, the night before the semifinal games of the Gold Cup are held at the Georgia Dome.

Brad Friedel, the former goalkeeper for the U.S. men’s national team, and Briana Scurry, a World Cup and Olympic champion, will be part of a panel discussion at the Center for Civil and Human Rights. The two will be joined by Darren Eales, president of Atlanta United, and Stuart Sharp, head coach of the U.S. Paralympic national team.

The panel of four will discuss the potential for soccer in the fight against racial discrimination, and the event will benefit Soccer in the Streets, an Atlanta-based non-profit targeting at-risk youth.

Tickets for "Soccer: Embracing Diversity" are limited and must be purchased online for the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday night, more than 68,000 fans are expected to attend Gold Cup matches. The United States will play Jamaica at 6 p.m. and Mexico will face Panama at 9 p.m.
