Snow flurries were reported across the northern suburbs before daybreak Tuesday, but forecasters did not expect any accumulations except at the higher peaks of the mountain counties.
School was canceled Tuesday in mountainous Union, Towns and Fannin counties due to slick roads.
Mark Arum in the AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB Traffic Center said the snow was not causing any travel problems during the early stages of the morning commute.
Just after 8 a.m., snow was accumulating on roof tops in Marietta, but was not sticking to the roads.
Temperatures before daybreak were around the freezing mark in metro Atlanta but had dropped as low as 27 in extreme north Georgia.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said temperatures across metro Atlanta will rebound only Tuesday afternoon before plunging to the upper 20s Tuesday night.
Normal high for March 26 is 67, the normal low 46.
Wednesday through Friday should be sunny, with highs in the low 50s Wednesday and low 60s Thursday and Friday and lows in the 30s.
The weekend will begin with a 20 percent chance of rain on Saturday, along with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid-40s.
Easter Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a 40 percent chance of rain and highs in the mid-60s.
