The Snellville Mayor and City Council continue to debate the appropriate way to fill open board and commission spots. The latest dispute surrounds three open spots on the Snellville Arts Commission.
Mayor Kelly Kautz nominated local educators Anna Herrington and Jimmie McKinley. Council members voted against the nominations stating they hadn’t been vetted and approved by the arts commission as required by an ordinance put in place back in March 2014.
Leroy Banks, a city council nominee which was vetted by the arts commission, was approved to fill one of the open spots. The five city council members voted in favor of Banks with Mayor Kautz voting against.
