The Snellville City Council is working to amend two ordinances related to the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages. In both cases, the council will conduct a second read and vote on whether to approve the changes at their meeting July 13.

The first change would allow for the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public within the Snellville Towne Center. Specifically, this would allow the public to move within the Towne Center from one location to another with alcohol.

In the second change, the city would allow the parks and recreation department to provide special use permits for outdoor sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on park property. Mayor Barbara Bender noted, this could be used for special events, like a Atlanta United Soccer watch party.
