The Smyrna City Council voted 7-0 Monday to allow Covenant Christian School in Smyrna to continue to have a modular classroom building for another two years.
This special land use permit was granted in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 as the school continues to raise funds for its permanent building on nearly nine acres at 3130 Atlanta Road.
Brant Suddath, president of the school’s board of trustees, said $185,000 has been raised to renovate the church and school building but more is needed.
Founded in 1975 by Smyrna Presbyterian Church, the school now has more than 200 students in K-4 through 8th grades.
