Smash-and-grab burglars struck a northeast Atlanta camera store before daybreak Friday.

According to Atlanta police dispatchers, the burglars smashed through a glass door at the Wolf Camera store in the 4400 block of Roswell Road before 5 a.m.

Store manager Jimmy Allen said the robbers entered through a side door after smashing its glass, broke into the safe and took merchandise.

Atlanta police spokesman Otis Redmond said the thieves stole 12 cameras valued at $1,300 each.

Police were also investigating a similar overnight burglary at a tanning salon about a mile away.

Redmond said thieves used a rock to smash the front window of Solar Dimensions Tanning in the 3800 block of Roswell Road, then took a 42-inch television.
