Walmart plans to build one of its Neighborhood Market stores in a spot now occupied by a Big Lots near Lithonia.
Big Lots holds the lease through February, but Walmart has confirmed plans to put its own shop in the 41,000 square foot center on Covington Highway.
Neighborhood Markets offer groceries, pharmacies and general retail items from a smaller footprint than the larger Supercenters.
Two Neighborhood Markets are under construction in DeKalb, on Winters Chapel Road in Dunwoody and on Tucker Norcross Road.
