Construction work on the N. Peachtree sidewalk renovation project in Norcross is set to begin April 6. The new sidewalk will stretch about 100 feet south of Chastain Manor at 561 North Peachtree St. to around the curve, ending at 455 N. Peachtree St.

Crews will begin with demolition of the existing sidewalk. During construction, which is expected to take about 4 months, the sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians.

Once completed, the project will improve safety and correct erosion issues undermining the existing sidewalk and a steep drop from the sidewalk to the drainage ditch along the roadway. Proposed construction includes concrete paving, asphalt paving, relocation of utilities, a fieldstone retaining wall, roadway striping and stormwater drainage facilities. Both travel lanes along N. Peachtree Street will be repaved once the sidewalk is completed.
