Grease and excess debris caused about 9,800 gallons of raw sewage to spill from a DeKalb County manhole and into South Peachtree Creek, county water reports show.

The spill occurred in the 2400 block of East Club Drive in Atlanta, near the Brookhaven Country Club.

In December, the federal Environmental Protection Agency mandated DeKalb upgrade its sewer system after the county reported more than 800 raw sewage spills in five years.
