Henry County officials announced March 12 that the county’s four senior centers will close temporarily beginning Monday, March 16, and remain closed until further notice due to coronavirus concerns.

The decision was made “as a preemptive measure” after consultations with staff as well as briefings with the Emergency Management Agency and the District 4 Department of Public Health. Officials said it is the best way to protect the county’s senior population, which has been identified by the health care community as the most vulnerable population being affected by COVID-19. Senior services, such as Meals on Wheels and in-home services, will continue for those who currently receive them.

Henry County Senior Centers will also continue to serve lunch meals from the closed senior centers with an innovative drive-thru service.
