An investigator for the Secretary of State's office faces drug charges after police responded to a shooting at her Kennesaw home.

On the morning of March 7, police were called to the Mountain Springs Court home of Melissa and Ryan Marlowe. Ryan Marlowe, 36, was shot multiple times in the torso and was rushed to the hospital. He survived the shooting.

Melissa Marlowe, 33, refused to give a statement, police said.

But Channel 2 Action News reports that a caller to 911 who identified herself as Melissa Marlowe stated she had just shot her husband after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at her.

Inside the home, police said they found marijuana and items used to smoke it. Melissa Marlowe was charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has posted bond on the misdemeanors. No charges have been filed yet in connection with the shooting.

The Secretary of State's office, responding to an inquiry about Marlowe's status, told Channel 2 that office policy is not to comment on personnel matters.
