During an “annexation listening session” Sunday, each of the four attending school board members and three city commissioners indicated they favored Decatur’s annexation plan.
But board member Annie Caiola told the audience of about 40 there are three things she’d like to see from the city: help with funding in the construction of one and maybe two more schools; help in finding land to build those schools on; and an agreement that adding the annexed students to the school system’s enrollment be done in phases.
“I’d like to see a delay of about three years [after annexation] before bringing in the new students,” Caiola said.
