The Sandy Springs City Council has approved an operating agreement with Heritage Sandy Springs to have the latter nonprofit continue to oversee the Heritage Green historic site.

The agreement replaces a lease dating to March 25, 2008, and follows discussions between the city and Heritage Sandy Springs on updating their working relationship upon the recent completion of City Springs nearby, City Manager John McDonough said in an agenda report to the council.

Heritage Green includes the Williams-Payne House Museum, Bluestone Building, Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn, park property across the street and administrative offices at 135 Hildebrand Drive.

Heritage Sandy Springs will be responsible for interior maintenance, utility payments, keeping regular hours and working with the city to maximize event opportunities. The agreement runs through June 30, 2019, automatically renews for four successive, one-year terms, and after the initial five years is renewable by mutual agreement.
