The Sandy Springs City Council has accepted a contractor’s $374,215 bid to make roadway and sidewalk improvements to the busy intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Riverside Drive.

Pending approval of the contract by the Legal and Finance departments, Glosson Enterprises will extend an existing right-turn lane on Riverside to increase the overall capacity of the intersection; and build a 10-foot-wide multi-use sidewalk about 300 feet long on Riverside, along with curbs and gutters, according to a staff report to the council.

Glosson also will reconstruct a driveway entrance to city-owned property off Riverside Bluff Court; change Riverside’s lane configuration; and add a raised median island to Johnson Ferry, staff said.

The intersection is just south of where Johnson Ferry crosses the Chattahoochee River at the Cobb County-North Fulton County line.
