Sandy Springs has announced the completion of solar electric and thermal systems at Fire Station Nos. 1 and 2, believed to be some of the first local government solar projects in the state.

The city will host a commissioning ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Fire Station No. 2 at 135 Johnson Ferry Road. Parking will be at the old Target across the street.

Morgan Constructors was the general contractor and FLS Energy was the solar contractor for the projects, according to the city.

Sandy Springs has also installed solar flashers at school crossing zones.
