Sandy Springs announced it is acquiring two land parcels totaling 1.52 acres to expand Allen Road Park.

The City Council approved paying $1.19 million, using Recreation and Parks impact fees, to buy the tracts at 75 and 85 Allen Road. The seller is the A. Filsoof Irrevocable Trust, according to the purchase agreement.

Allen Road Park, 5900 Lake Forrest Drive, currently has about three acres with basketball courts, a walking trail and a playground. The newly acquired properties are immediately east of the park.

The concept of expanding the park is part of the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Master Plan, the city said. Information: https://bit.ly/2S0nVS4
