As part of a larger effort to address aging structures at high school stadiums, the Fayette County Board of Education voted 5-0 June 1 to replace the press box at Sandy Creek High School.

The county is allocating $133,040 of SPLOST funds to demolish the 25-year-old box and build a new one with a metal floor that won’t rot.

In May, the board approved $282,800 of ESPLOST II funds to replace the 30-year-old visitor-side bleachers at Fayette County High School, to add capacity and comply with the access and seating provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
