Cobb County Superintendent Fred Sanderson received the Life Achievement Award by the National Parent Teacher Association, the organization’s highest honor.

Abby Shiffman, co-president of the East Cobb County Council of PTAs, nominated Sanderson for the award because of his commitment to children.

“He is a tireless advocate for our children’s education, health and well-being,” said Shiffman.

Sanderson has been head of the Cobb district since 2006. He plans to retire this year.
