Rehabilitation efforts for the 66-year old Roy Head Bridge over Little Tesnatee Creek in White County closed the bridge June 12 for 21 days. Crews with Comanche of Georiga, LLC of Marietta will clean, paint, replace joints, and place a protective overlay to the driving surface of the bridge.

This work will extend the useful service-life of the bridge on State Route 11/U.S. 129 for another 25 years. For the work to be completed in less than a month, complete closure of the bridge over Little Tesnatee will save time and enhance safety for construction crews.

Traffic will be detoured at the junction of S.R.11/U.S. 129 and Tesnatee Valley Gap Road proceeding for approximately 3 miles to Sate Route 115/West Kytle Street. Then traffic will be directed to turn left on S.R.115 and proceed 700 feet and turn left onto the West Cleveland Bypass for approximately 1.6 miles until the junction with S.R.11/U.S. 129 where the detour ends.

This project was awarded in December of 2017 and has a scheduled completion date of July 31 however the bridge will reopen to traffic July 1. The project represents a total maintenance investment of $1 million.
