After a year that saw its chief retire and an audit critical of the department returned, the Roswell Police Department is conducting a biennial opinion survey of residents and businesses.

Respondents can rate the overall performance and attitude of staff and officers in various categories; identify where more presence, enforcement or crime-prevention measures are needed; and say how the police can best communicate with the public, officials said.

The survey, which should take less than five minutes to complete, "will help identify areas of improvement for the police department and will also help shape the future of our department," said Police Chief James Conroy. The survey is available until Nov. 22 at: https://bit.ly/2JtXf7O

Conroy, a retired DeKalb County police chief, was named to succeed retired Roswell Chief Rusty Grant in July. Also this year, an independent audit commissioned by the city after incidents of officer misconduct found a department with low morale, a lack of leadership and not enough minority or women officers.
