The Roswell City Council voted 4-1 to approve an updated landscaping plan valued at $101,590 for the grounds around City Hall.
The council had approved $50,000 for the work last June. Council Member Michael Palermo cast the sole dissenting vote on the updated proposal.
The plan calls for improving six landscape beds and removing existing, damaged maple trees due to their high density and thick root systems that do not allow plantings below, Recreation and Parks staff said in a memo to the council.
The new plantings will add multi-season interest in character with a prominent institutional location, staff said. The irrigation system will be renovated to ensure an appealing presentation in times of drought, and new seating areas, added.
The Municipal Complex Landscaping Project fund has $50,000 available for the effort, staff said. Additional funds will be transferred from the City Green Project and Tree Care Planting Master Plan Project.
