The Roswell City Council has passed a resolution supporting “Solarize Roswell,” a campaign to encourage the installation of solar photo-voltaic systems, using bulk purchasing to lower costs for homes and businesses.

The campaign will be led by Solar Crowdsource, a Georgia-based group that works with community leaders and non-profit organizations “to bring clean, renewable energy solutions to residences and businesses,” according staff report to the council.

Solar Crowdsource will handle requests for proposals, educational workshops, event planning and other matters, staff said. Participants will sign up online, and a contractor will perform a virtual site evaluation and, if a property qualifies, set up an in-person meeting to do an on-site assessment.

The owner would work with the contractor to do the installation.

Solar Crowdsource currently has campaigns going in Atlanta and Carrollton (deadline to enroll is Oct. 31) and previously arranged solar installations in Athens, Decatur and Dunwoody. Information: https://www.solarcrowdsource.com/
