Motorists in Roswell can expect construction in the coming weeks on one of the busiest road segments in the city: eastbound Holcomb Bridge Road approaching the Ga. 400 interchange.
Starting this week, a city contractor will begin installing a concrete median in the right-hand lanes of Holcomb Bridge from Old Dogwood Road to the concrete island at the ramp to southbound Ga. 400. The project will be completed within 30 days, weather permitting, city officials said.
Intermittent lane closures are expected from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. While the contractor will do as much of the work as possible during nighttime hours, some daytime lane closures are possible, officials said.
The median is a safety improvement to separate traffic heading to the southbound Ga. 400 ramp from traffic going east on Holcomb Bridge. Also, it will prevent drivers turning right off Old Dogwood from cutting across the two turn lanes to Ga. 400 to get to eastbound Holcomb Bridge.
