As part of the continuing discussions on the economic future of east Roswell, city officials next week plan to talk about possibly expanding the city’s Downtown Development Authority to include commercially zoned areas in the Holcomb Bridge Road Corridor east of Ga. 400.

Mayor Jere Wood and Councilmembers Jerry Orlans and Don Horton have requested the discussion during the Administration Committee Meeting, scheduled for 4 p.m. Feb. 14 in Room 220 of Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill St.

The Downtown Development Authority was reactivated in 2012 with the appointment of seven volunteers with real estate development and market expertise, according to the authority’s website.

The group’s duties include pursuing economic opportunities and public-private partnerships to stimulate business growth while maintaining the city’s small-town character. It advises developers, issues bonds to finance development, and collaborates with Roswell Inc., the city’s economic development agency.
