Roswell is giving residents a hand with spring cleaning by scheduling a household hazardous waste collection for Saturday, March 9.
The Roswell Public Works/Environmental Department event, for Roswell households only – no commercial entities – will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Roswell Solid Waste Facility, 1810 Hembree Road.
Accepted items include paint thinners, turpentine, pesticides, flea and tick powder, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizer, undiluted pool chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, propane gas cylinders, mercury thermometers and thermostats, non-rechargeable household batteries, aerosols including aerosol paint, automotive brake fluid, used motor oil filters and gasoline.
CARE Environmental Corp. will handle and dispose of the materials. No drop-offs will be accepted prior to the event, and no latex or oil-based paint will be taken. Paints can be taken to the Roswell Recycling Center, 11570 Maxwell Road.
