Retired cop plans law enforcement prayer vigil in Gwinnett

July 13, 2016

A retired Gwinnett County police officer is putting together a law enforcement prayer vigil for Friday evening.

According to a news release from the Gwinnett County Police Department:

"Retired Gwinnett County Police Major Jonathan 'Keybo' Taylor is planning a prayer vigil for peace with law enforcement in Gwinnett County. The city agencies, Sheriff's Department and GCPD are invited to attend. The vigil will be held this Friday, July 15, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the Fallen Hero Memorial at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville."

Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash and "clergy leaders in the community" are also expected to attend. The event comes on the heels of fatal police-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota and the slaying of five Dallas, Texas, police officers.

The city of Snellville also plans to host its own 'night of healing' on Thursday.
