Drivers will be glad in the long run, but full of frustration for the foreseeable weekends as road crews resurface lanes along U.S. Highway 316 from Herrington Road to Highway 120 in Lawrenceville. Lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, assuming weather permits. Crews will work every weekend that weather allows except Labor Day weekend until the work is finished.

This weekend, crews will begin with the inside lane of Hwy. 316 east, closing the inside lane and shoulder. Saturday, crews will also start work on Hwy. 316 westbound closing the shoulder and inside lane. Work will occur around the clock to remove damaged asphalt and replace it with new asphalt.

The $5 million contract for the 3.76 mile long project was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting of Marietta. The entire project should be complete by May 31.
