Responses to an online survey regarding the 2020-21 Fayette County school calendar are due Friday.

The school system has drawn up two options, each of which plans to start classes on Aug. 3 and end the first semester in mid-December, but they vary on the length of the winter break in February. Both schedules include professional learning time for teachers and staff plus a home-based personalized learning day for students on the Nov. 3 Election Day, since many schools are used as polling places.

Neither calendar conflicts with the state-mandated testing schedule. The options were designed by a committee consisting of parents, students, teachers and administrators. Board member Brian Anderson said he hoped future calendar options would include later start dates.
