The Roswell Police Department is boosting patrols on the city’s east side after a report of a man trying to lure children into his vehicle.
An Oct. 10 call to police noted a “suspicious van” on Barrington Way near the Barrington Farms subdivision along Old Alabama Road.
According to the caller, a man in his 40s drove a white van in that neighborhood around 4 p.m. as children were getting ice cream, police said. The caller thought the driver of the white van was going “to talk to or grab the kids,” police said.
Authorities could not find the caller when they arrived to the scene, and so far, there are also no witnesses to validate the caller’s story, police said.
"We would like to assure the neighborhoods on the east side of Roswell that there is no information indicating that any children were approached," the agency announced on its Facebook page Monday.
“As a precautionary measure, we have stepped up patrols in these neighborhoods, and as always, we encourage you to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.”
